Sports Equipment Diploma

Qualifications Gained:
 ITEC Diploma in Sports Therapy Equipment
 IMST Diploma in Sports Therapy Equipment

Duration of course:
A combination of Tuesday evenings, 6pm-10pm and Saturdays 9.30am-5.30pm, commencing Saturday 24th September until exams at end of January.

 Venue:
Institute of Massage & Sports Therapy, 6 & 7, The Square, Annacotty, Co. Limerick

 Pre-Requisites                                  
Students must have completed a recognised sports massage/ sports injury therapy course. Students who have not completed these courses with the Institute must include copies of their diplomas on application.

 Study will include theoretical and practical application in the following areas:
This course includes theory and practical study into the following machines and their application to soft tissue injuries. It discusses in detail the methods of use, benefits, contraindications and applications of the following machines:

  • Ultrasound and it’s use for injury repair, prevention and rehabilitation
  • Faradic
  • TENS
  • Hand Held Massagers
  • Audio Sonic Machines
  • Mechanical Massagers
  • Infra-Red
  • Paraffin Wax
  • Electricity Theory
  • Legal & Safety Aspects
  • Contraindications

This is an invaluable course for qualified sports massage therapists, sports injury therapists and physical therapists as many of the machines will complement the hands-on treatment, while also giving the therapist’s hands a well deserved break! This qualification will add a new dimension to your injury treatment and rehabilitation and will aid recovery in ways that manual massage therapy simply cannot do.

ITEC Practical Exam
IMST Continual assessments and final exams

Case studies:
Students must complete a number of case studies, by working on friends and family to gain valuable experience. Many of these are carried out during class time.

Plus ITEC Exam fees                             €210

Total                                                      €1,710

A deposit of €600 is required on application to the course. Payment can be made online Here.

The remaining course fees may be paid in full on course commencement, they may be split into two instalments or they may be paid through a standing order system through the bank over a period of 5 months. All of the above will be discussed on an individual basis with students
