Level 4 Certificate in Sports Injury Therapy

This ITEC course offers graduates a chance to study in-depth, the pathology of injuries and their causes and treatments. Graduates will be qualified to treat soft tissue injuries to tendons, ligaments and muscles and be able to differentiate between their presentations and treatments. Injuries such as whiplash, rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, low back pain, hamstring strains, shin splints & ankle sprains, to name just a few, will be taught in relation to assessment, treatment, general rehabilitation and home care advice. A full sports massage course is included, with seven different advanced sports massage techniques being taught in detail.

Graduates are also fully trained in the application of pre and post event massage techniques to athletes before and after exercise or competition. As a result graduates can gain employment with sports teams and athletes, where their services are in great demand both in injury prevention as well as in injury treatment and management. However, the qualification also allows graduates to treat members of the public with soft tissue injuries also, and many graduates have successfully set up their own private practices either on a full-time or part-time basis. Other graduates have also gained employment with physiotherapy practices, osteopaths, chiropractors, nursing homes and hospices.
